NZTA chipsealing in central to south Greytown - 29 and 30 January nights (Archived)

UPDATE - This work is starting Wednesday 30 January and will continue on Thursday 31 January if it's not completed.
.................

NZTA would like to advise you of road surface improvements scheduled for State Highway 2 Main Street from central to south Greytown on Tuesday and Wednesday nights 29 and 30 January.

Where?

About 700 metres of highway from Wood Street to just south of Humphries Street.

When?

Tuesday 29 January, 6.30pm-5.30am.

Our traffic controllers will start setting up cones and signs from about 5pm. Work may start earlier or later than 6.30pm, depending on the amount of traffic.

Then, if required, work will start again on Wednesday 30 January from about 6.30pm, and be completed overnight.

For two days after, please follow the 30km/h speed restrictions while the chip settles.

What's being done and why?

The road will be sprayed with a treatment developed to prevent cracks in the road. It will then be surfaced with urban chipseal which includes a very small chip that makes it quieter than rural surfaces.

Thank you message from NZTA

Thank you for your patience while we make these road improvements in your community.
Capital Journeys, the joint venture of WSP Opus Consultants and Fulton Hogan that maintains the region’s state highways, is undertaking the work on behalf of the Transport Agency.

Tips for driving on freshly laid chipseal

It can be unnerving to hear loose chips rattling under your vehicle. Driving smoothly at the temporary speed limit without sudden braking will provide the safest conditions for your car and our workers.
