Job Vacancy – Policy and Reporting Manager

Combine the Tararua, Rimutaka and Haurangi Forest Parks with the wild stretch of Palliser Bay and Pacific Ocean coast and you get the Wairarapa.  The South Wairarapa region encompasses the three rural towns of Featherston, Greytown and Martinborough, each with their own charm and attributes.  Here at Council we are proud to serve and support this fabulous part of New Zealand.  Our vision is to be ‘the best little Council in New Zealand’ and we are working hard to achieve this.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the newly created role of Policy and Reporting Manager will be responsible for a wide range of functions, including managing the preparation and delivery of the Annual and Long Term Plans, development and maintenance of policies and procedures including non-financial aspects of the above plans, and ensuring legislative requirements are met.

Local Government experience is preferred, however if you have experience in preparation of strategic documents and interpretation of legislation we would like to hear from you.

We are looking for a friendly, professional person to manage this important area of our business.

The employment offer to you may be tailored to suit your experience, qualifications and skill sets.  Please send a CV and cover letter to Barbara.Gavan@swdc.govt.nz by 4pm, Friday 26 September 2014.  Applicants should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.
