Background
As a result of the recent supermarket redevelopment in Featherston, Council has traded the land it owned under the current supermarket for land next to the skate park.  The result is that Council now has a vacant site that fronts the main street and is adjacent to the Clifford Square reserve area.  In addition, Trust House has agreed that when they no longer need it they will donate the liquor store building to the Council to be used as a Menz Shed.

Help Us Decide
The size and location of the parcel of land opens up many opportunities, including community use, commercial development or even reserve development, and we need your help to decide what to do.   The combination of vacant land and a donated building is a very fortunate situation – so we need to come up with a plan for improving the area that compliments the Featherston that we know and love.

Please have a look at the Proposed Town Square Development flyer to see an example concept plan (a hard copy of this flyer will be delivered to Featherston residents).  This example is just a starting point for conversations and to get your creativity flowing.  After you have considered the main issues, we want to hear from you.

Feedback
You can download and complete the Feedback Form, or address the questions on the form in a letter or email.  Questions 1-3 are about the specific “Town Square” piece of land and the Menz Shed building.  Question 4 is about Featherston’s Big Picture – if you have any other ideas about what Featherston needs, we really want to hear about them.
