Covid-19 Level 4 - Guide to Council services

If you have questions about what's open and what's not during Level 4 (after midnight Weds 25 March), you've come to the right place.

The essential services to continue as normal are:

  • provision of drinking water
  • wastewater treatment and disposal
  • kerbside rubbish only collection for urban and coastal residents remains as scheduled
  • recycling for urban and rural is suspended for two weeks (i.e. until after Easter). More info here.
  • Martinborough transfer station to essential services only
  • control of dangerous and menacing dogs
  • essential roading services
  • burials
  • payments by internet banking.

Non-essential services to be closed are:

  • recycling for urban and rural is suspended for two weeks (i.e. until after Easter). More info here.
  • Martinborough Transfer Station to all but essential services
  • Featherston and Greytown recycling centres (Earthcare will provide a yellow hub outside the Featherston station for recycling only)    
  • processing LIMs (the clock stops now, while we focus on essential services - to be reviewed if resources allow)
  • processing building consents (the clock stops now, while we focus on essential services - to be reviewed if resources allow)
  • public toilets
  • venues
  • children’s playgrounds – by all means, walk the parks alone or with your self-isolation group, but keep physical distancing from others.
