Water treatment in South Wairarapa (Archived)

Water treatment in South Wairarapa

In light of recent news stories on water in Havelock North and Pahiatua, we would like to reassure our residents that the utmost care is taken with the urban water supply in Greytown, Featherston and Martinborough.

Each supply has a treatment system and all water is disinfected. Greytown and Featherston have the same source which is disinfected with chlorine.  Martinborough has ultra violet (UV) light disinfection. UV disinfection is currently being installed for the other towns as shown in this simplified flow chart.
