Council Adopts New Meeting Structure (Archived)

In April 2018 Mayor Napier instigated a governance review which was subsequently completed by EQUIP with the release of the ‘Fit for Purpose’ Report.  Mike Reid, Principal Policy Advisor of Local Government NZ, facilitated a Council workshop in October 2018 to discuss the recommendations in the report.  The outcome of the workshop was that the Mayor, Cr Colenso and Cr Wright were given responsibility to investigate and then recommend a new committee structure to Council.

The new Council structure proposed and subsequently adopted on the 20 February 2019 provides for accountability and transparency and delivers the potential for councillors to better optimise their time and become specialists in their assigned committees scope of work.

A calendar of ordinary meetings up until the Local Government elections was also adopted.

Councillors will be given committee memberships on the 18 March 2019.
