The Maori Standing Committee is made of two representatives from each of the Marae in the district, one representative from the two iwi plus two Councillors. The Mayor can also attend Maori Standing Committee meetings. The Maori Standing Committee advocates for and represent the interests of their marae and iwi and work with the Planning and Environment Group on resource consents.
